Last night I met a friend of mine who happens to be an Executive Recruiter. He is not a customer of Zapoint (his firm made some technology choices way back that they are still dealing with) but I know he is a customer in spirit.
He looked exhausted.
Love them or hate them recruiters work long and hard. My friend, lets call him Jim, is no exception but what frustrates him is the effort / reward ratio. Here is how he describes it:
“What I am really good at is understanding my client’s needs and once I have a shortlist of three or so candidates managing the process of selection and close. Every hour of effort I put into that part of the process pays back well. Leading up to finding the three candidates is what is killing me. It takes me days, sometimes weeks, to get through the piles of resumes and LinkedIn profiles without any payback at all other than hopefully (he crosses his fingers) I find my three in the shortlist”.
I asked him how much time he spend on each section of his process:
“Typically 10 percent on understanding my client’s needs, 60 percent on filtering the large list of candidates and 30 percent on the selection and close.”
I said “Jim, that’s more than half your time on a process that (although necessary) is time consuming and taking you away from the 40 percent that your really enjoy”.
Jim’s Effort / Return ratio was being diluted by the amount of time he spends trying to compare resumes. If he could significantly shorten the time taken to compare he could close more deals and hopefully look less exhausted.
Jim is aware of how Zapoint could help him. Our recruiter application, called PreSourced, is focused on the 60 percent that keeps him from the 40% he loves. Our patented technology enables recruiters to convert resumes to a common format that has an algorithmic ranking capability. From there we do all the comparison for you. It takes seconds to do what took hours before PreSourced came along.
But I had to buy Jim another drink and just sympathize until he purchases Zapoint PreSourced (Jim its only $19 per month – why don’t you do it anyway?)
